Sock Saga
I started the Goth Chick kneesocks for my sister. I am loving the yarn and I think they will be rockin'...

...but they're too tight. I used a formula that said make the sock 20% smaller than your measurement around, so that they stay up. This is much too tight on me, and my calves are the same as hers in circumference. So I found a different sock calculator, that makes kneesocks. This one even has increases to the calf and then the decreases. So I will try this and be much happier. Little sock, you have been frogged. Parting is such sweet sorrow, only to cast on again tomorrow.
For your reference, this is Lorna's Laces Purple Club and Charcoal, on size 0 Inox metal dpns. Pointy!
Interceptor In Da House
I also started Alec's winter hat (part of my holiday knitting). So here's the inside joke about this hat. When we told everyone Alec's name when he was born, our friend who is a videogame developer instantly gave Alec the nickname of Interceptor. For all of you 80's videogamers out there, Alec was the main character from the videogame Spyhunter. Code name Interceptor. Our friend even gave us a copy of the original ad for the game, signed by the game's designer. So in honor of this, I am making a Spyhunter hat. Here's the original artwork:
I've turned it sideways and made a fair isle/duplicate stitch chart for around the main section of the hat. And I've stolen the stripe sequence from the cabinet art for the earflaps:
Ain't he a handsome fellow? Woo!
So here's the beginning. Looks mostly like a whole lotta nothin', or maybe some sort of Rastafarian item, but I will trust.

One Down, Five to go
And, I finished the first set of mittens! These will be for Ryan -- he's 2 1/2 and I think they will fit. For the other two older kids, I think I need to make the finger portion longer by a stripe. But these will be easy and fun. Also, I told my boss I would make some thumbless baby mittens for her sister's new baby. So the total has increased.
We're leaving tomorrow night for Boston and Thanksgiving. I hope to have a chunk of my sister's sock done by the time I get there, but I'm taking all projects with. Hoping for some excellent knitting time! Have a great holiday, all.

I am sad to say that I recognized "Hello, everybody" before I clicked on the link. You and I have obviously spent too much time at Music Together, Jen. :) Have you ever tried Wiggleworms at the Old Town School of Folk Music?
Have a great Thanksgiving!

Wow, I just noticed that you're coming to Boston for Thanksgiving. I hope the weather holds for you ... it's been pretty good for late November.
