Went to the Stitch n Bitch at the Museum of Contemporary Art on Tuesday -- it was awesome again! Hung out with Bonne Marie, Aidan, Jonathan and Meg, and many many others. I love that, it's so encouraging! And speaking of encouragement...
...bootie experimentation has been completed! First, here's the finished "Just Ducky" hat and booties:
Imagine this orange can is a baby's head.
Here's an overhead view showing off the corkscrews. I made the spirals by casting on a lot of stitches and k2tog, rather than doing kf&b -- I hate that fiddly knitting front and back jazz.
OK so I have questions for you, since I am really enjoying this designing things. Several of you expressed interest in the patterns, and I will be happy to send them to you!
My question: if I were to sell this stuff, what would you buy?
1. The patterns, say at like $5 or $6... how much seems reasonable for a hat and booties pattern, with color charts?
2. The kits, with enough yarn to make everything. How much would be reasonable for this? $15? $20?
Let me know what you think!
Now, the next question, dear readers. Based on a co-worker's suggestion, I have attempted a bootie that looks more like webbed feet. I borrowed the zigzag stitch pattern from Grumperina's Jaywalker socks, added some increases, and came up with this:
Superducky on the left, plain ducky on the right
So my question is: is this enough cuter to be worth the extra fuss? This bootie came out bigger, so I am going to crank the gauge down a bit, since the number of stitches is important for the pattern.
